Student Insurance Open Enrollment

Students are currently able to waive or enroll for Wellfleet student health insurance coverage for spring-summer 2025. All Beloit College students are required to have health insurance. Students with other, approved medical insurance who did not waive out for fall 2024 will have until January 10, 2025 to complete a waiver.

We have reached the time of year called “open enrollment”. This is a period of time when you are able to make changes to your fall Wellfleet insurance selection.

  • If you are enrolled in the Wellfleet student health insurance, you can waive for spring-summer 2025.
  • If you waived the Wellfleet student health insurance for fall 2024, you can enroll for spring-summer 2025.
  • If you do not need any changes from your fall selection then no action is necessary.

As a reminder, all Beloit College students are required to have health insurance.

What will happen

  • New domestic and international Beloit College students will be enrolled in the Wellfleet student health insurance for the spring-summer coverage period from January 1 through July 31 2025.
  • Returning international students will also be enrolled in the Wellfleet insurance for the spring-summer period from January 1 through July 31, 2025.

The cost for the student health insurance spring-summer period is $1,321.

Action you can take

Students who are new to Beloit College or returning from a vacation term and are covered by other, approved medical insurance have until January 10, 2025, to complete a waiver (online opt-out selection). Students are encouraged to do this as soon as possible.

If you waived the insurance in the summer for fall 2024, you do not need to do it again. This reminder is only for those who want to make changes to their fall selections.

  • Should you decide to waive coverage, Wellfleet will need to verify your coverage before the waiver is approved.
  • If you have Medicaid coverage from states other than Wisconsin you may opt out of Wellfleet coverage but your coverage will only provide for routine medical care in the state it is issued. Only emergency room care is covered outside of the state that the coverage was issued.
  • If you have a medical plan whose costs you share with others, such as Medishare, you must accept the Wellfleet coverage.
  • If you are an international student, you will automatically be enrolled in this coverage per Beloit College policy.
  • Your healthcare coverage must be confirmed annually in the summer for the coming academic year.
